A Christmas Dance

by admin on Dec.26, 2009, under Ballet, Events

It has been a crazy month for me, though tiring, I still enjoyed the benefits of what I’ve worked for… Event photography is at it’s peak during this time of the year, it’s up to you to decline the project (since you now have all the right) or not. Yes, another Billboard for me, hopefully they decide which of them will be used…. and make it sooner!!!

I just want to relax, badly, that I’ll start of with one of my favorite subject, Ballet. No matter how often I get to shoot a performance it’s never the same which I find more interesting.

Award Winning Dance piece choreographed by Mr. Nordic Caraig.

Thanks for viewing

Phil. Ballet Theatre’s “Ang Pasaway”

by admin on Sep.28, 2009, under Ballet

“Ang Pasaway” is an adaptation of Ballet La Fille mal gardée (English: The Wayward Daughter) is a comic ballet presented in two acts, inspired by Pierre Antoine Baudouin’s 1789 painting, La Réprimande/Une Jeune Fille Querellée par sa Mère. The ballet was originally produced and choreographed by the Ballet Master, Jean Dauberval, to a musical pastiche adapted from fifty-five popular French airs by an unknown hand. The ballet was first presented under the title Le Ballet de la paille, ou Il n’est Qu’un pas du mal au bien (The Ballet of Straw, or There is Only One Step from Bad to Good) at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, in Bordeaux, France on 1 July 1789.

Philippine Ballet Theatre’s adaptation is set on the northern most province of Luzon’s little barrio farm, where in people grow crops. It was certainly different from what I’ve seen on classical ballets, here they have different costumes, props and background. I found it amusing with the tagalog version, specially the baro’t saya on pointes.

The artistic director Ronilo Jaynario has put time & effort for this show, as well as the team behind him. To the dancers, great job! To other guest performers ACTS Manila, Claravall School of Dance, Quezon City Ballet of HCSB, & PBT Gems, splendid performance!

The cast:

Flordeliza played by Bianca Trocino

Karding played by Peter San Juan

Aling Simang played by Anatoly Panasyukov

Alfonso played by PJ Rebullida

Mang Tomas played by Joel Matias

11th Asia Pacific Dance Competition 2009. Thailand

by admin on Jul.22, 2009, under Ballet, Events

Once again, Philippines made a mark on the performing arts when they competed against hundreds of performers from around the Asia Pacific for the CSTD’s 11th Dance Competition. Major prizes were bagged by our talented young dancers with ages ranging from 6-24 years old as well as taking home 10 of 12 perpetual trophies (the only 2 of them are those we didn’t have entries at). It was overwhelming, as the enthusiastic dancers were motivated more by the crowd cheering them on every time an amazing choreography is performed. I sure hope each and everyone can be called a Truly Proud Filipino.

Congratulations again to the Halili-Cruz School of Ballet!!!

During the competition, I chanced upon a cutie little group from Australia, they we’re on the road for 2 weeks already coming from another competition, but that didn’t stop them from posing for a short pictorial.

To Jayden & Emily Watson, Chloe & Zoey Camilleri here’s some of your pictures.
